The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Chief of OneRoof, with a dotted line into NZME’s Chief Information Officer, you’ll lead the engineering strategy and delivery across the full OneRoof ecosystem. From designing scalable, secure systems to integrating enterprise-grade solutions, you’ll help shape the platform’s future and ensure it continues to deliver exceptional experiences for Kiwis navigating the property market.

You’ll collaborate closely with the OneRoof leadership team and external development partners, all while championing best practice engineering, solution architecture, and seamless integration across the NZME tech stack.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading solution design and architecture to support OneRoof’s product roadmap
• Guiding engineering teams and mentoring senior developers across technical and soft skills
• Embedding scalability, resilience, and modern security principles into everything we build
• Driving innovation and leveraging AI to power smarter, faster real estate tools
• Aligning OneRoof’s systems with NZME’s enterprise architecture
• Owning end-to-end delivery of robust, high-performance digital products
• Ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement

About you:

You’re a natural leader with a proven track record delivering complex engineering solutions in a fast-paced, digital environment. You thrive in ambiguity, adapt quickly, and know how to bring people along for the ride.

You’ll bring:

• 10+ years’ experience in software engineering, including leadership roles
• Deep technical knowledge of React, Next.js, Flutter 2.0, AWS, GCP, MySQL & MongoDB
• A strong understanding of cybersecurity, cloud architecture, and enterprise integration
• Fluent Mandarin is highly desirable for this role
• A collaborative approach and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• A degree in Computer Science, IT or similar
• Experience working in Agile and cross-functional environments
